4.0/5 rating (5 votes)

Tree Kangaroos are found in New GuineaThey can jump up to 9 meters (30 feet) from branch to branch. Some have been seen jumping from heights of 18 meters (59 feet) to the ground without getting hurt. These exceptional jumpers are special in other ways.

First off, they live in trees. Most other species of kangaroos live on the ground. It’s believed that all kangaroo's descended from animals that came down from the trees and adapted to moving quickly on the ground. So, its interesting the tree kangaroo returned to the trees.

Tree kangaroos have powerful forelimbs that are of almost equal length to the hindlimbs which are better for climbing. They also have very long tails, which they use for balance when moving around on tree branches.

Habitat - New GuineaThey live in the rainforests of New Guinea, some of the surrounding islands, and the far northeastern tip of Queensland, Australia. Because of habitat loss and hunting several species are classified as threatened or endangered.
