If you want to avoid cancer and you like dried fruits, wine or beer then you want molybdenum in you.

In its pure form molybdenum is a brittle silvery metallic element with the chemical symbol of Mo. Traces of it are found in nearly all living things. So if you’re wearing jeans or something made with natural fibers there’s probably a trace amount of it on you but, it’s in your body where it does the most good.

In your body, it assists several important enzymes. One of these enzymes is sulfite oxidase, which helps detoxify sulfites. Sulfites are added to dried fruit, beer and wine as a preservative. Molybdenum also assists aldehyde oxidase and xanthine oxidase which aid in the break down drugs and toxins.

You want plants to have adequate molybdenum also. Plants that grow in soil lacking in Molybdenum have been found to contain more cancer causing nitrosamines.

Plants are one of your best sources for molybdenum. Beans, lentils, peas, whole grains and nuts are all good sources. The RDA for adults set by the National Academy of Science is 45 micrograms.

Please pass me some Mo beans.
