The heart beats 3 billion times in a lifetimeOn average the heat beats around 3 billion times during a person's life. This means that it beats about 100,000 times in one day and about 35 million times in a year.

Some Quick Heart Facts:

  • If you squeeze a tennis ball hard you are actually using the same amount of force that your heart uses to pump the blood through your body.
  • In the human body there are about 5.6 liters of blood. All of this blood circulates through the body three times a minute.

I wonder what the difference in number of beats there is between a runner and say a couch potato? Aren't runners hearts suppose to beat slower?

on the runner you have to take into account that there hearts are beating faster during there exercise periods and that they will most likely live longer than the couch potato.
